I count my blessings having been born and raised in London. I had two hard working parents, so was fortunate to never go hungry, wore nice clothes, had a bike and a room full of toys. Summer holidays were exciting with fun family days out, pink candy floss, hot sugary doughnuts, and fish and chips by the sea.
There are many children around the world who don’t have it so good. I wanted to do something to make a difference to a child’s life.
I found Stand by Me, a charity that provides much needed help to children around the world. I was able to read about the children and decide which child, in which country I wanted to help. I decided to help a nine-year-old in Colombia, with a £20 donation per month towards her education. We regularly exchange letters and I encourage her to study and reach for her dreams.
Sometimes people don’t take action because the world’s problems seem so big and it feels impossible to change anything. The thing is, we can change the world. I have and you can to.
